Tableau
Visual analytics that answer the question asked. I use Tableau to explore and communicate data clearly — the visual serves the decision, not the other way around.
The Workflow — How I Approach It
1
Frame the question
State what the analysis must answer — before a single chart is drawn.
2
Prepare the data
Clean and shape the data — the visual is only as honest as the data.
3
Explore with visuals
Use the tool to interrogate the data — find the pattern first.
4
Build the dashboard
Package the answer for the audience — one screen, clear message.
5
Explain the insight
Deliver the finding with its implication — not just the chart.
My Operating View — The 2 Cents
The chart is only as good as the question. My 2 cents: let the business question shape the visual, not the other way around. A beautiful chart that doesn’t answer the decision is noise.
What Worked & What Didn’t
What Worked
- Clear analytical communication — the insight landed with the chart.
- Question-first analysis — every visual had a purpose.
What Didn’t
- Visual-first without a question — pretty, purposeless.
- Dirty data — a polished chart of a wrong answer.
