MS Office Suite
Board decks and control documents that hold up. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are the delivery surface for governance, strategy, and reporting — built for the decision, not for decoration.
The Workflow — How I Approach It
1
Structure the document for the decision
State the conclusion up front, evidence beneath — the decision reader never hunts.
2
Make visuals carry the message
Charts and tables that support the narrative — not wallpaper.
3
Keep control documents auditable
Risk logs, dependency matrices, and change frameworks that anyone can trace.
4
Version and review
Controlled versions and review — the document is current and correct.
My Operating View — The 2 Cents
The deck is the plan’s ambassador. My 2 cents: an executive deck should fit on one page of conclusions and one of asks. If the decision can’t be found in the first two slides, the deck has failed.
What Worked & What Didn’t
What Worked
- Board-grade materials — decisions made directly from the deck.
- Auditable control documents — governance that could be traced.
What Didn’t
- Slide walls — fifty pages, no decision in sight.
- Documents without an ask — informative, but nothing to approve.
