Agile & Scrum Methodologies

Agile isn’t ceremonies; it’s a planning loop. I run Scrum so delivery becomes predictable — sizing honestly from velocity, re-planning each sprint, and making commitments the team can keep. The proof: +25% sprint delivery predictability on an AI product platform.

The Workflow — How I Approach It

1

Frame the work

Break epics into user stories with clear acceptance criteria — the work must be understandable before it is estimable.

2

Size from evidence

Use velocity from completed work — not gut feel or hope — to know what the team can actually deliver.

3

Commit honestly

Size the sprint to proven capacity, not aspiration. A commitment the team can keep is worth more than a big one they can’t.

4

Run the loop

Standups, reviews, and retrospectives that actually change the next sprint — not meetings that repeat themselves.

5

Re-plan with data

Burndown and velocity feed the next commitment — the plan improves every cycle because it respects the evidence.

6

Report outcomes

Predictable dates and progress to stakeholders — so trust is built on delivered results, not promises.

My Operating View — The 2 Cents

Sprints are promises. My 2 cents: over-committing is the root of all Agile failure. Size from what the team has actually delivered, not what they hope to deliver — a predictable sprint builds more trust than an ambitious one that slips.

What Worked & What Didn’t

What Worked

  • Honest sizing from velocity — sprint predictability up 25%.
  • Retrospectives that changed the next sprint, not just discussed the last one.

What Didn’t

  • Ceremony without re-planning — meetings that produced no change.
  • Treating velocity as a target — it is a measure, and gaming it breaks the plan.
